Remember the incredible Kanye West Cross-stitch? Well, my fiancée Carolina has raised the bar for Christmas gifts.

She took our favorite tweets from our parody accounts (@luigimario and @princessssdaisy) and asked Amy Sheridan, the artist of the original Kanye pieces, to recreate them in fabric form. They are now hanging on my wall underneath the Zelda prints, and they are incredible.

Luigi’s reads: “Sometimes, when I’m lying in my bed at night, and I can hear Mario choking on my gum below me, I know everything is going to be okay.”

Daisy’s reads: “It’s @luigimario and I’s anniversary today! Luckily, we were able to escape Mario and Peach’s present - a Twilight reenactment.”

The accounts are side projects, I started @luigimario three years ago for fun, and he soon attracted a thousand followers. Carolina jumped into the action in fall of 2010, and has taken to it incredibly well.

Seriously, the bar has been raised. I am so happy and blown away, this was a fantastic gift.

Thank you sweetheart. You are super great. I love you!

2011 was an amazing year, and 2012 should turn out to be equally as fantastic, if not even more fantastic. Now, while the rate of fantastic that will occur in 2012 is not strictly based on the amount of fantastic that occurred in 2011, if we base our estimates off of the previous year, we can make a reasonable assumption that 2012 will be fantastic.

I can’t understand what I just wrote.

Pushing all of that confusing blather aside, I just pray that Peter Jackson and the cast/crew of The Hobbit can save the world before the Mayans all come back and shoot arrows at our knees.

Isn’t that what the general fear is right now? From the current state of the internet, that’s what it seems like. Maybe if we defeat SOPA (which I can only assume is an ancient Kraken from the depths), we will have nothing to fear.

Let’s start 2012 off right. I’m going to start reading The Great Gatsby, and you look at this great picture of Raphael punching Hitler in the face.

Blog Action Day 2011: Food

Blog Action Day 2011 falls on World Food Day, so naturally this year’s topic is food!

Many people today are sharing their own family traditions concerning food. Thanksgiving customs and homemade recipes. That’s great. Really.

But to me, Blog Action Day seems more like a day to take action, rather than swap stories.

Still more people are talking about famine, a phenomenon that seems to be taking place in more and more countries.

I’m talking about that today, but also about the United States’ growing trend of obesity.

The CDC has a delightful graph that shows the growing trend of obesity in the United States by state since 1985.

15 years. 15 years and the average BMI% of Americans doubled. The same website states that “About one-third of U.S. adults (33.8%) are obese.” and “Approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese.”

Three years ago, I shared some statistics that I discovered while writing my Blog Action Day 2008 post about poverty.

10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (that’s roughly 29,000 children per day). The current famine in Somalia took the lives of 30,000 children in just three months.

Americans aren’t taking care of themselves. Even in the face of a booming fitness industry, obesity is still a, well, large issue in the USA. And it boggles my mind that we can double obesity in 15 years and there’s famine still in the world.

There’s a petition that ONE is working to get to Congress, urging them to donate resources to eradicating the Somalia famine. This is the worst drought to hit the Horn of Africa in more than 60 years. You can sign that petition and get your voice heard. It will make a difference. At the time of this writing, we’re at 94% of the signature goal of 250,000. Let’s exceed 100%.

I’m not saying the blame rests squarely on the shoulders of hefty Americans. I’m merely using the US as an example because this is my home country. In fact, America is, comparatively, doing a fantastic job at donating money and resources than, say, Italy.

However, I do believe that the United States could afford to throw a little weight around.

10/02/11 - Bluth Family Reunion

Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz and the entire main cast reunited for the first time in 5 years at The New Yorker Festival and announced that a 9-10 episode miniseries is in the works that will serve as a lead in to the feature film.

Filming is set to start Summer of 2012 and the series should air in the fall. There’s a video up of the entire panel on The New Yorker Facebook Page.

Mission accomplished.

I understand that with your large size and rotund features you may think that you are “all that” and perhaps even “a bag of chips”. I understand that you have low self-esteem considering the fact that no one likes you and they all wish that you would just go away. None of them have invited you to their parties and in fact most have hidden away just to avoid meeting you altogether.

Time for a blogdump!

The holiday season is nearly upon us and that means that I am one happy camper thanks to all of the hours and subsequent money that I get from work. Huzzah!
I will soon be taking some courses to get certified in the fields of Management and Marketing, so another Huzzah for all of that!
I have, with the amazing help of my dad’s searching skills, procured a car! My current one is on it’s way out and I sort of maybe need to drive places.
I am preaching on a Sunday Morning (in what I like to call “Big Church”) on August 28th, and I don’t think that I could be more excited. Unless there is pizza as well. That would make me the most excited.
If you take a look at my Hellobar up top, you will see that I want suggestions on things to do for the Internet. I will do them, (within moral and legal reason) all you need to do is submit. Neat!

I turn 20 today! Huzzah! Huzzah! And to celebrate, I’m going to do something for you.
